Rivalry Relay

The company Austin works for, Fishbowl Inventory, sponsored their employee's to run in the Rivalry Relay this year. A fourth of his entire company participated and every department was represented. Pretty impressive uh?  For those of you who are wondering, what in the world is the Rivalry Relay? Well, its a 62 mile race from the University of Utah to BYU. Completed in one day, with 6 team members.  And all in the heat of an August day. Watching all these guys do it, makes me want to do it next year..it's definitely a possibility.

Bright and early this morning, they were ready to start the race! Austin was up at 4:30am, yuck!
It was an all day event. Austin ran a little for 10 miles and did phenomenal.  I told Austin I was surprised with how fast he was for the race, because he never really trained. Just played basketball at noon, throughout this humid, insanely hot summer. I guess that works just as well apparently! He averaged a seven minute mile--amazing! Considering the hills he had to combat. Well done babe!

Team car. The barrel on top was filled with water. They sprayed their team mates while they ran. Austin said it was like getting your batteries charged in the dead of the heat, and I can only imagine how much out a boost that would give!

Aubri and I waiting for Daddy to finish his last leg.  I seriously love my girly-girl!

Aust with the Fishbowl Harley--the CEO drove it behind their team once they got to Orem.

They all did such a great job. Austin is exhausted, more like beyond that. He's been sleeping since 7:30pm. Aubri and I are so proud of you! It takes a lot to run that man miles, in this August heat.

Sunday Walk & Two Buck Tuesdays

Sundays are our favorite day of the week.  We sleep in, go to church, come home and take a nap and then after dinner, we venture out on a nice, long family walk. Aubri enjoys having both parents home together for an entire day without having to run errands or anything like that. I actually took pictures on Sunday while we were on our walk, it was gorgeous out.

Apparently, walks are better walking through a field of grass.

In honor of Two Buck Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point, Aubri, Braylee, Bre and I joined in with every other Mom in Utah county to look at all the farm animals. Aubri gets so excited reading her farm animal baby book, that I thought she wouldn't absolutely love it! Well, neither of them expressed any type of joy. Just complete silence--that's a good thing I take it. We will definitely go back next year when they are older. (Aubri and Braylee are just lilttle over a month apart. So its fun seeing them interact with each other.)

They were a little skeptical of the ponies.

I pulled my camera out, and asked Aubri to say "Cheese!" and this is what she did. Such a cutie! Can you count the 4 teeth coming in? :)

Showing off her standing skills. She is teaching Braylee her motor skills! :)

8 Months

Can you believe that summer is almost over? It blows my mind how fast time goes for us now.  Aubri has had a very busy month. And when I say busy I mean, she just won't sit still and likes to go, go, go! Just like her Mama :) She is crawling machine. She follows me around the house like a little duck , its super cute and it puts a dent in her energy levels.  She is a pro at pulling herself up to anything and everything. My legs, the entertainment center, the toilet (She plays it like a drum) Austin's legs,  the bed, the door, the wall...you get the idea. Its super cute though.  I think my favorite thing she does right now is giving kisses. She only gives them to me. When Austin asks for a kiss, she gives me one instead. Did I mention she gives really good hugs?  Don't worry, Austin gets in on those at least.

Our Miss Independent, has become even more independent this last month. She now insists on feeding herself. So I fill her tray with chicken, turkey, berries, peaches, bananas, snow peas, squash, practically anything she can get her hands on. She has stood by herself a few times in the last few days, its like she is getting ready to walk...we're in trouble.  She is getting more and more of a personality each day and I love it! She still laughs at my when I sign to her. She does know what finished means and does her own modified version of it. Its really cute.

So, we caved and gave Aubri just a little lick of my ice cream (She was literally chasing me for it.) Apparently a lick just wasn't enough and shoved her face into it. We won't be doing that again for a while...she was up with a tummy ache at midnight that night. Thank goodness for Mylicon, she was limp within seconds.  We've got a busy month ahead with Austin starting fall semester and getting ready to move...Did I mention that? Well we are, and we are so excited. Its not for a few weeks, but I'm starting to pack and deep clean so its not such a pain when we do move. More details on that to come soon!

Sun & Soccer

Saturday, we endured the heat and to go to Austin's sisters soccer game. (Clear in the heck in West Jordan--if we had known it was that far, we probably wouldn't have gone. From now on, we will be sticking to games for both siblings that are within 15 minutes of our house.) Anyways, we thought there would be shade when there really wasn't much.  So we did out best to keep Aubri cool in the heat of the day. She did pretty good until the car ride home, she was hot, tired and wanted to be home. But she did enjoy playing with the grass, sucking on her fingers and taking a nice 15 minute nap.

Showing off her hair. She has a ton coming in, and its coming in thick and blonde as can be!)

Surprisingly enough, Aubri is teething again. But this time, its not 2 teeth coming in, its four. We will see how long these guys take to make their appearance.

Brooklyn's team took second in the Sparta tournament. Way to go Brookie!

Dinner Prayer

Austin and I are watching my little sister, Emma, and little brother Josh, while my parents are out of town. Emma is 13, and is boy crazy like you wouldn't believe.  Yesterday, after picking her up from the pool, she told Austin very bashfully that she had met two boys at the pool. She was giggling, smiling and blushing.  While saying the dinner prayer, Austin found it an opportune moment to give Emma a word of advice and said "Please bless Emma that she will control her hormones and not be so obsessed with boys." Only our comedian would do such a thing.

We love you Emma Lou, but you sure could cool it when it came to boys. :)

Project Lunch Box

I'll be honest, Austin and I are horrible eaters. There are many days that we forget  to eat lunch. I know, it seems crazy, but thats how it seems to be most days. In addition to that, we enjoy sleeping more than we enjoy a big breakfast, so most mornings, is a quick oatmeal and fruit. At least its something though, right?
I stumbled across this website called Family Fresh Cooking, it is exactly what we need to motivate ourselves to pack a lunch to bring along.  Our  hope is that we can eat lunch and still eat healthy. Plus, it will help Austin brush up on his inner chef.  We are doing the 30 day challenge, so we will be checking back in on August 8th. (Its just to late to go to the grocery store today, but we will pack a lunch tomorrow, we promise!) My favorite thing about this website, they have a ton of gluten-free! Hooray! So here is so full bellies for Mom and Dad at lunch time, because we all know Aubri gets lunch everyday!

Riverwoods & Bridal Veil Falls

One thing I love about living where we live, is how close we are to the mountains and of course, the Riverwoods. We love it! They have a store down there that has old school toys that we played with when we were kids. Aubri loved it! She has a new found love of baby dolls. And she was so excited when she saw their huge selection of dolls in every size and color. Santa will have to remember to go shopping at this store when Christmas gets closer :)

They had an amazing candy shop with all the candy you could think of!

We finally took Aubri to Happy Sumo! We haven't been since I was pregnant and we used to go on a regular basis.  She loved being there, especially the chop sticks and rice. Its so nice that she is older now. We can go to dinner and just feed her certain foods off our plate and enjoy a good meal.

Aubri is such a girly girl already. She loves her necklace, bracelets and shoes. She would go without a bow, but she knows it comes in handy as a toy if she gets bored.

Like I was saying, we love living so close to Provo Canyon. Its nice to be able to get away from everything going on in just a few minutes. Our new favorite thing to do is walk on the Bridal Veil Falls trial. Its nice and cool, and shaded most of the way. We will be frequent hikers of this trial, we loved it so much.  We even ran into my good friend, James, who just got home from his mission a few days ago.  It's always a fun surprise running into a such a good friend. We always seem to run into Austin's friends and never mine. He seems to think I just didn't have friends. He is always joking of course! But, at least its proof I have at least one friend from high school. lol

Just taking in the scenery. She loves going on walks!

Aubri was in 7th heaven. She wanted nothing more than to get into the water. And was just amazed by it all. As you can see in this picture, she was more interested in the falls than smiling for the camera.

All she wanted to do was put rocks in her mouth. She is a true baby, through and through!

Doing what she loves so much, riding on Daddy's shoulders!

Austin and I have talked about moving out of state a few different times. And I don't know if I could ever live anywhere that doesn't have an amazing place to escape and being engulfed in nature. I live for the days where we go on hikes and spend time out doors. Who would have thought I would love the mountains so much?

Olympic Junkies

Austin and I have turned into avid Olympic fans. We have never really sat down and watched team USA compete during the Olympics until now. And I love it!  Our favorites by far are gymnastics--way to go women's gymnastic and congrats to Gabby Douglas for bringing home the gold!  Then we love to watch diving and swimming.  Can I just say I love cute Missy Franklin? And of course, the king of the Olympics, Michael Phelps.(20 medals so far? Are you kidding?!?!) Our last few favorites are men's basketball, beach volleyball and sculling.

I just wish they would play each event live, instead of the quick recaps of the top countries. But I will take what I can get for now. So, now you know that are lives are revolving around the summer games and we are cheering for our amazing athletes. Go USA!
